Why Low-Impact Cardio Is Smart After 35
High-impact exercises like running and jumping generate significant forces through your joints. As you age, joint cartilage thins, connective tissue stiffens, and recovery slows. Low-impact cardio provides all the cardiovascular and fat-burning benefits with significantly less injury risk.
What Makes Cardio Low-Impact?
Low-impact means at least one foot is in contact with the ground at all times. Examples: walking, cycling, swimming, elliptical, rowing, and modified aerobics.
